hildegard of bingen, a rhineland mystic of the twelfth century, was a poet and scientist, painter and musician, healer and abbess, playwright, prophet, preacher and social critic. the book of divine works is a cosmology which reunites religion, science, art, and physics. also contains 51 letters written by hildegard to significant political and religious figures of her day and translations of twelve of her songs.

this is an incredibly cool and strange find—the spring 1973 issue of evergreen review, from evergreen state college in olympia. sealed in plastic and in perfect condition. includes the complete text of samuel beckett’s “the lost ones”, writing on soviet liberalism, an INTERVIEW WITH ARETHA FRANKLIN (?!), an eyewitness report on a new playboy club, and more. truly weird and wonderful time capsule.

very cool 1969 parapsychology book. gathers classics from the literature of psychical research, spiritualism, and parapsychology, including selections from investigators, mediums and psychics, and life-after-death researchers. quite interesting as a piece of counterculture history, as well. fair condition, hardcover.

this was published in 1978 at sahayogi press in kathmandu, nepal. very limited release. photographs within are all from the author’s travels, line drawings by balaram thapa as well. later prints of this book can be found for cheap online, but this original version goes for anywhere between $30-$120. it has a special feeling.

dragonfly was a haiku journal independently published in portland, oregon by lorraine ellis harr, founder of the world haiku society, throughout the 70s and 80s. these are pieces of very chill portland history with subscription cards, illustrations, and dense pages of poetry all intact. lorraine later went on to found the tombo haiku group in portland as a way to mentor new haiku poets. these journals are extremely rare, i can’t find them anywhere on the internet. it’s difficult to part with them.
